Exhibitions

Billy Name only had a handful of exhibitions of his photographs during his lifetime, though the few that he had would bring out a lot of people eager to experience Warhol’s 1960’s through his camera eye.

Name’s largest exhibition was hosted by MILK Gallery in New York City in November 2014. The opening reception attracted thousands of people who waited in line not just to see the photos, but to meet the man behind them. The “Billy Name: The Silver Age” exhibition was curated by Dagon and Anastasia (Rygle) James and featured nearly 100 photographs taken by Name during the 1960’s at Andy Warhol’s Silver Factory. Accompanying the photos were three Warhol films featuring Name which were projected on the back wall of the gallery as continuous loops.

The MILK opening also served as the book launch for the most comprehensive book of Name’s photographs ever published. The 448-page behemoth The Silver Age, published by Reel Art Press, also edited by Dagon and Anastasia James.
